CHARACTER
NAME: Isaac "Felix" Gates
CANON: Red vs Blue
AGE: Early-to-mid thirties. Headcanon is 34.
CANON POINT: Season 13, Episode 19

HISTORY: "What if I am too good-looking? I mean, it's possible."

PERSONALITY: So you meet Felix. You don't think that's his real name, but guys in his line of work rarely seem to go by real names. This guy, though, seems pretty full of himself. Really full of himself, actually. Like, you've probably never met someone who honestly loves themselves as much as Felix loves himself. And does he always talk so much? It seems like he really just can't stand to let the silence stand, he has to have something breaking it up. It just so happens that his favorite subject of of conversation, casual or otherwise, happens to be himself. Always animated, moving and gesturing and always talking. You know, it would almost be more tolerable if he wasn't as good as he brags about being.

But he is. Infuriatingly so.

Maybe he plans it that way, throws himself into honing his skills and being the absolute best just to rub it into people's faces. I mean, he does love proving how much better he is than anyone else in the room. Well, maybe it's because of the war. You know. That war. The big one he almost died in, the last of two survivors in his squad. You think that changed him at all? You hear stuff about the people who come back from war distant, colder, a little broken on the inside. Nah. He was probably always a narcissistic asshole. That's not the sort of thing that's learned.

And yet the more you're around him, the less bad he really seems. Yeah, he tells a lot of stories about himself, but they tend to be exciting. Funny. He's entertaining, that Felix, and surprisingly sympathetic at the right moments. There's a certain charm with the swagger, something that invites you to get closer. To like him. He seems like he might be alright to grab a beer with. Maybe there's more to him than the self-absorbed asshole you met at first. Sure, he's got no qualms about shooting people when called for, but it can't just be that he's cruel, or he doesn't value life. That's just being practical, right? Surviving. He knows how to get his money's worth in any situation, and he seems game for just about anything with some kind of reward waiting at the end. He'd be a Hell of a guy to have on your side, and the way he prattles on just kind of invites you to do the same. You think you know better, but he's just so damn likable.

A charismatic mercenary with a rough exterior, but a heart of gold. Yeah. That seems to fit.

Later, you don't see the knife. You just feel it burying deep between your shoulder blades. You don't see his eyes until you fall, and you didn't realize how cold they've been this entire time. The guy laughs more than anyone you know, but the mirth never reached his eyes. He's still smiling, even now, as he tells you just where you went wrong. It's nothing personal, you know that, but there's pleasure being taken here in beating you. Watching you bleed out after you trusted him. There's a hunger in his eyes that says it's not just the coin he did this for. Maybe it wasn't ever really the money, but the thing that it signified. The fact that he's come out on top again and again, a trophy prize for proving who was better.

Maybe he's right. After all, he wasn't the one naive enough to put that snake in his pocket without thinking it'd come back to bite them.

POWERS: Felix is a base-level human, so no super-human powers. As far as abilities go he's got:

Combat Training - First a soldier, then a bounty hunter, then a killer-for-hire, Felix has a lot of practice on the field of combat, both one-on-one and in larger conflicts. He's usually the one to walk away victorious, or at least have the sense to know a losing battle and retreat.
Knife Expertise - His signature. Felix loves knives and is masterful in both throwing them and weilding them as a melee weapon.
Manipulation/Persuasion - Possibly his greatest attribute. Felix has a tongue that could charm angels, and seems to know exactly where to press and needle to get people to react the way he wants.

1ST PERSON: Here.
3RD PERSON: Here.

MISC
PLANS: Felix is only ever in it for himself. His own game, his own goals. Plunking him down in the middle of a fight for the greater good is just going to see him manipulating his way to the position that puts him at the most gain to be gotten. And of course surviving. Maybe find himself a couple of healthy meat shields. It's his way.
ITEM: His Scout Armor.
CHARACTER @ID SUGGESTIONS: @LUCKYME
HOW DID YOUR CHARACTER JOIN COST? "Volunteered" to avoid the Regency. It'd at least give him a reason to work with them initially, as opposed to immediately trying to double-cross them and jack a way home.
